The Australian State Government’s new funding of $68.9 million will enable Austin Health to commence construction of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, enabling the expansion of a number of critical cancer services, on the Austin Hospital site.
The funding enables the consolidation of Day Oncology services, expansion of radiotherapy services and enhanced research capacity in the one dedicated centre. This funding will also provide the space for future inpatient wards.
“This is the single biggest contribution towards achieving our vision for a world-class cancer and wellness centre for Victoria,” Austin Health CEO, Dr Brendan Murphy said.
The Cancer Centre will also include a dedicated wellness centre for supportive care programs and wellness therapies.
This centre consolidates Austin Health’s position as one of the leading cancer service providers in Australia.
The Austin is a leader in the clinical care of cancer patients, offering a full range of diagnostic and treatment services – and palliative care.
